Gwangju Universiade 2015

The Universiade is an international multi-sports event, organized for worldwide university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The Universiade is a mega sporting event second in stature only to the Olympic Games, and is staged every two years in odd-numbered years in a different city in summer and winter. The 2015 Gwangju Summer Universiade is the third Universiade as well as being the second Summer Universiade to be held in Korea after Muju and Daegu.

• Venue: Gwangju Metropolitan city and nearby counties (including Gwangju World Cup Stadium)
• Sport Events: 21 Sports(13 Compulsory Sports, 8 Optional Sports): Athletics, Swimming, Diving, Water Polo, Football, Tennis, Basketball, Volleyball, Table tennis, Judo, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Artistic Gymnastics, Fencing, Taekwondo, Badminton, Golf, Handball, Archery, Shooting, Rowing, Baseball
• Number of participants: More than 20,000 participants from more than 170 countries  (Athletes 14,000/Officials 2,000/International Participants 4,000)
