A concert for human rights and democracy
To establish a non-government cultural event with no barriers between foreigners and citizens of Gwangju, Gwangju International Center, along with musicians in the local area, have been holding a concert every May since 2003. The May Concert, of which the concert committee; established under GIC, either invites musicians from abroad or sends local musicians to other countries to hold concerts. May Concert has been promoting international cultural exchange, and the profits have been used to support human rights organizations in different Asian countries and migrant workers and to send student interns to work in Third World Countries.
