Gwangju City and Gwangju International Center (GIC) have carefully selected our host families after a thorough examination of their homes. So far 251 host families have been approved. Approved host families then participated in a 7-week training program with international visitors from all over the world. The host families are excited to help you feel comfortable while you are away from your home and hope to create good memories with you through the homestay experience.
Please note that, in the unlikely event that you are unhappy with your homestay family, we will try to arrange a new homestay if possible without any extra cost.
How to make a reservation

③ After the host family is arranged, the guest will contact the host family directly to arrange suitable first meeting time and place.
④ Gwangju International Center will send an invoice to the guest by email and then the guest should pay the fee directly to the host family upon arrival.

④ If you have to leave earlier than you’ve planned, a refund of the balance may be issued on a case-by-case basis.
⑤ If you stay for a long term, such as more than fifteen days, the cost may be adjusted by negotiation with the host family.
⑥ GIC will send a feedback form to you after your homestay by email. Please fill it out honestly and then return it back to us. Your feedback will help us to make the homestay program better.
Policy
1. Cancellations
Requests for cancellations should be submitted to Gwangju International Center in writing no less than one week in advance. Note that if you cancel less than one week in advance, you may still be liable for the cost of the homestay. The homestay program is operating in good faith between guests and host families. In addition, the process to match applicants with homestay families requires a lot of work, so please consider carefully before applying.
2. Insurance
Guests are advised to take out a travel insurance policy before coming to Korea. Gwangju International Center and hosts are not responsible for your insurance during your visit to Korea.
3. General
Gwangju International Center and hosts carry out this reservation service in good faith and will not be held responsible for any loss, damages or injuries incurred during the visits. Gwangju International Center shall mediate to reach a solution if there are any cultural misunderstandings. GIC takes no responsibility for either party implementing the resolution; it only acts as a mediator between guest and host. Other points not mentioned in this agreement shall be determined according to general practice in Korea. If there are some problems like loss of life or property between guest and host, we follow a standard commercial practice. If these situations emerge, they will be dealt with according to Korea law.
