Korea Exchange Bank (외환은행)

Eligibility: Hakwon teachers whose school is registered as a corporation. All other hagwon teachers are excluded regardless of income, position, in-country teaching experience, history / reliability of their academy . KEB also offers an “Expat Card” but that is only available to University teachers and regular employees.

Kookmin Bank 국민은행

Check card requirements: only Alien Registration Card is needed. For KB Check Card with additional feature as transportation card, a 30,ooo won deposit is required.

Woori Bank (우리은행)

Eligibility: Individuals who are 20 years of age or over with proven income and meet requirements set out by the Woori Bank CSS (Credit Scoring System) and qualification inspection. If you are an employee, a salary income statement, for self-employed person, business registration card and proof of business for more than a year is required. For Woori Bank account holder, they can qualify for a credit card if they meet a certain level of transaction history.
Required documents: Alien Registration Card/ passport

For employee: health insurance certificate, employment certificate, employee ID card, salary statement
For self-employed people: business registration, income proof certificate, income tax receipt, proof of VAT payment

To apply, submit the application form and necessary documents to a nearest Woori Bank branch or by visiting the bank’s website www.wooricard.com and click on the ‘Credit Card Application’.

Shinhan Bank (신한은행)

Employer: Corporations Listed companies, large companies with capital greater than KRW5 billion
Education College professors, teachers, administrative personnel, etc. Universities: assistant professors or higher positions.
Junior colleges: full professors or higher positions
Elementary, middle and high schools : regular teachers or higher positions
School personnel : administrative managers or higher positions
For regular workers: department heads or higher positions

At least one of the following : certificate of alien registration, proof of overseas resident address, or a document proving the address of an overseas Korean with foreign citizenship. Those without a certificate of alien registration or certificate of residence cannot have a credit card issued
Download or fill the application form at the nearest Shinhan Bank branch.
