Gangjin Celadon Festival 강진청자축제

- Period: Around August or September every year (this year: July 30 ~ August 7, 2011)
- Venue: Gangjin Goryeo Celadon Pottery Site

About the Festival
From the 10th to the 14th century Gangjin was a flourishing celadon production site. Out of approximately 400 kiln sites around the nation where Goryeo celadons were made, 200 of them are preserved wholly in Gangjin. Gangjin Celadon Festival is held annually for worldwide recognition of celadon’s superiority and to pass on its value and its beauty to younger generations. Near the venue, there are natural wild flower fields, which make for a great photo spot.
Activities:
- Agricultural Experience Program: natural ecology learning, balsam nail polishing, short-necked clam digging, oxcart train trip, folk experience reminding of parents (straw craft work), Gangjin Broken Farm Machine Robot Experienc, etc
- Celadon Experience Program: shaping celadon and coiling, standing spinning wheel experience, earthquake celadon time-capsule to the future, firing firewood kiln, printing celadon figure, celadon rubbed copy experience, celadon mosaic fragments experience, etc
- Experience celadon scene, Goryeo celadon mystery sound tunnel, oxcart train trip, experience King of Goryeo Dynasty, Goryeo celadon pattern rubbed copy and sculpture, oversize Korean paper celadon and exhibitions
